Creamy Mac N Cheese

Mac N Cheese is on of the most popular classic all-American comfort foods. Every household turns to this recipe as a default if there’s nothing else to cook. Why do we love it so much? Simply put, everyone loves cheese, and macaroni soaked in creamy cheese is really to die for.

Every now and then, we turn to boxed instant mac n cheese. Why? Because it is the most convenient way of getting a quick fix. But what if there is an easy way to cook a fresh mac n cheese dish without making a mess in the kitchen? Well if you have an Instant Pot, then we have the perfect recipe for you.


1 lb macaroni
1 cup water
1 can evaporate milk
1/4 cup butter
3 ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cups fontina cheese, shredded
½ cup parmesan, grated
½ tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp ground mustard
ground black pepper to taste
kosher salt to taste



  1. Place macaroni inside steamer basket. No need to use partition.
  2. Fill Instant Pot with 1 cup water, place steamer rack, and then the steamer basket on top of it.
  3. Secure lid and set to sealing.
  4. Set Instant Pot to HIGH pressure for 12 minutes.
  5. Once timer is up, do a Quick Release of pressure by pressing down the Steam Release Button until it locks into place.
  6. Once all pressure and steam is released, Remove steamer rack and let all fluids drain.
  7. Drain Instant Pot and set to Sauté. 
  8. When Instant Pot displays “Hot” melt butter and saute mustard and paprika. 
  9. Stir in milk and cook while continuously stirring for two minutes.
  10. Add cheeses and keep stirring until sauce is even. and season with salt and pepper and switch Instant Pot off.
  11. Allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.
